 Mui Ne and Phan Thiet

About 3 hours drive north from Ho Chi Minh City you’ll come across Mui Ne, a beautiful 21km stretch of palm fringed beach. Mui Ne Beach has a tropical flavour with white sand and warm waters. To date, the area is relatively non-commercialized and still has a community living off the land and sea. . Mui Ne is purely a kick-back-and-relax, read a book kind of place, although for watersports fans, the off-shore breeze can pick up nice enough for kitesurfing and windsurfing. Professional instructors and equipment are available for hire too.
Hotels are all pure beachfront and fit in nicely with their surroundings. There are no high-rises here. The odd restaurant can be found along the road. The area is developing fast – very fast in fact. So if you’re after a few idyllic days at the beach make sure you get to this place of paradise sooner than later.
Phan Thiet has little of interest except for golf fans. The Ocean Dunes Golf Club, designed by Nick Faldo, is considered by GolfDigest.Com as the second best in Vietnam in 2003. Hole number 9 has been selected as one of the top 500 best in the world. The golf course is linked to the Novotel Phan Thiet. However, most tourists head straight for Mui Ne, 11 kilometres away.
Highlights include:
Kitesurfing, windsurfing, swimming in the sea, golfing, sunbathing, tiki-tour on a motorbike to Phan Theit and Mui Ne fishing village which is great for photos. Visit the sand dunes.
Getting there and away:
To / From Ho Chi Minh City:
Van / Bus transfer is around 3 hours
To / From Nha Trang:
Van / Bus transfer is 3 - 4 hours

Mui Ne and Phan Thiet Reviews
Adam2003-2006
I'm a resident of Mui Ne-Phan Thiet and love it. It is the driest and windiest destination in South East Asia, and quickly becoming the kiteboarding capitol of the region. Sites include the White Sand Dunes, Ta Kou Mountain Pagoda, Khe Ga Lighthouse, and the ancient Cham Towers. There's a great information site at www.muinebeach.net .
